School Programs
Embark on a martial arts journey, since 2005 the Federation has had the pleasure of teaching an ABC Ninja program to children in over 20 different schools in the greater Sydney Area, from Bondi through to Penrith.Currently within the familiar grounds of St Joachim's Catholic Primary School in Lidcombe and St Charles Catholic Primary School in Ryde.We as an organisation feel that it is crucial children receive the opportunities to take part in physical activity. We hope to not only promote Ju-Jitsu as a form of physical activity, but also the key values of confidence, humility, patience, self-control, discipline and resilience that correlate as a result of training in our programs.

Our partnership with St Charles Catholic Primary School allows us to offer a lunchtime Ju-Jitsu program, specifically designed to complement the school day. This program fills the lunch break with a fun and engaging activity that promotes self-defence, builds confidence, and enhances physical fitness – all within the school environment and seamlessly integrated into the existing schedule.

At the end of every year in Term 4, we host our highly anticipated annual competitions. Ladder of Success
Welcome to our unique 'Ladder of Success,' a comprehensive roadmap that guides students through their journey from novice to black belt and beyond. At the heart of our ladder are tailored programs designed to accommodate different age groups and foster holistic development.
The Basics
For our youngest martial artists, aged 5-8, the journey begins with mastering the fundamentals, progressing through a series of belt levels that instill discipline, focus, and confidence. As they advance, they not only hone their physical skills but also cultivate essential life skills such as perseverance and respect, laying a solid foundation for future success.
Life Skills
But the journey doesn't stop at achieving the coveted black belt. It's just the beginning of a new chapter, where students have the opportunity to step into leadership roles through our coaching programs. Our 'Junior Black Belts' can pursue two distinct paths: the 'Cadet Coach Award' and the 'Competition Official' certification.

The 'Cadet Coach Award' empowers students to become mentors and role models, honing their leadership and communication skills as they assist in guiding their peers on their martial arts journey. Through mentorship and practical training, they learn the importance of patience, empathy, and effective instruction, qualities that serve them well both inside and outside the dojo.For those with a passion for competition, the path to becoming a 'Competition Official' begins with first becoming a coach. By mastering the intricacies of the sport and understanding the rules and regulations, students develop a keen eye for detail and decision-making, essential qualities of a referee. Serving as a competition official not only enhances their martial arts experience but also provides valuable insights into sportsmanship, fairness, and integrity.

Currently the Federation has over 40 coaches who assist and lead classes on a weekly basis.These coaches are highly skilled in their approach in teaching Japanese Ju-Jitsu. Through their passion and dedication, they empower students to hone their techniques, cultivate discipline, and foster a sense of camaraderie within the dojo community. This is what makes WJJF unique.
In the Beginning
Upon earning their Junior Black Belt, candidates are invited to attend a specialized coaching course. This course rigorously tests their abilities to coach, equipping them with essential skills and techniques necessary for effective instruction. Successful completion of this course marks the beginning of their coaching career.The initial stages of coaching involve assisting in classes and actively participating in our coaching program. This hands-on experience is crucial for developing practical coaching skills and gaining confidence in a supportive environment. Beginner coaches who demonstrate excellence and great potential are selected for a formal assessment. This evaluation determines their readiness to become permanent coaches, allowing them to start teaching classes regularly and take on more significant responsibilities.
Ongoing Development
We believe in continuous improvement, which is why we offer regular coaching refresher courses. These courses are designed to help our coaches stay updated with the latest techniques, methodologies, and best practices in Ju-Jitsu coaching. Through these sessions, coaches can refine their skills, learn new strategies, and ensure they are providing the highest quality instruction to their students. Refresher courses also provide an excellent opportunity for coaches to share experiences, discuss challenges, and collaborate on solutions, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Coaches Retreat
In addition to refresher courses, we organize coaches retreats that focus on team building and personal growth. These retreats are designed to enhance the camaraderie among our coaching staff, offering a chance to bond outside the dojo in a relaxed and supportive setting. Activities during the retreats are geared towards improving leadership skills, promoting wellness, and encouraging a balanced approach to coaching. These retreats not only help in building a stronger, more cohesive coaching team but also provide a well-deserved break for our coaches, allowing them to return refreshed and re-energized.
Advanced Opportunities
Coaches can also choose to become competition officials, adding another dimension to their coaching career. For those seeking a more dedicated role, full-time employment in our coaching program is available. This involves teaching future coaches and nurturing them into valuable members of our expanding team. Our Coach Training Program offers more than just training; it provides a pathway to personal growth, career development, and the acquisition of essential life skills applicable both within and outside the dojo.Ju-Jitsu is not only a martial art but a gateway to numerous opportunities, fostering leadership, teamwork, and excellence in every aspect of life. Through our Coach Training Program, we are committed to developing the best coaches who are prepared to inspire and lead the next generation of Ju-Jitsu practitioners.
